An iconographic type of male and female figures represented in figurines and other arts of Minoan Crete such as seal engraving. The upper body is arched backwards and the right hand is raised to the forehead. This cult gesture is interpreted as a gesture of prayer or invocation of the deity. Most of the bronze human figurines in this pose have been found in sacred caves and at peak sanctuaries and settlements of the Neopalatial period, and are interpreted as votive offerings representing worshippers.
